Reflection 5

Over the course of history of the United States there have been and still are many groups that are still are being oppressed. Oppressed  defined by dictionary .com is  a subject to a burdensome or harsh exercise of authority or power. So really this means that one or more groups or people are treated in negative way either by their gender, thoughts or even the color of their skin.  But only one group comes to me that have and still are being oppressed is women as a whole. Women have been oppressed for years and years and even in the modern times they are still fighting.

Women have been fighting for their rights since the 20th century. During the moment that  time women were fighting for the right to vote and to gain the same equal rights as men. This was latter to be called the Feminism movement. Than later  women fought a second wave that had dealt with female reproductive rights. This one is still a huge issue for many women, especially that now many of Christian  "men" believe that what women does now with there bodies is a sin. In the article "Abortion rights being Chipped away" shares that its been 45 years after Roe v. Wade, the ruling legalized abortion for women. But that even after this ruling many states are adding barriers for women to exercise this right. Over the course of couple years nearly 1,200 restrictive states laws has been enacted.  This is happening in modern times, the government is slowing trying to take away the constructional reproduction rights for women, and I thought that government was supposed to be separated  from church.  This should always be a women's right and we should never have to fight for our own body rights.

  1. I completely agree that women are still fighting for their rights. Nobody but me should have a say in what I do with my body.

  2. I mostly agree to what you're saying. Yes, you have control over your own body. But, you're stopping a possible human from being born, and there might be a family out there that would want the baby even if you don't. But, on the other hand, to what you're saying, you have the right to chose what you want to do with your body, and no one should be able to take that away from you. Also, since I'm a male, I'll never know the pain that comes with child bearing. So, I have no say in this debate, and I support your decision.
